Meet the Uber Water Sterilizer!
The UVE-9 is not your run to the mill aquarium sterilizer. Once installed, this submersible unit works tirelessly to keep your aquarium healthy and clear. As water enters the unit, it’s exposed to a germicidal grade UV bulb that zaps free-floating microorganisms and disease-causing pathogens. What’s particularly unique about the UVE series is that it maximizes the UV dwell time, bad news for parasites, and great news for you! The UVE-9 also includes an optional Venturi line for added oxygenation and an adjustable flow rate to suit your particular creatures’ needs.
Wanted: Dead or (Not) Alive
UV sterilization is a popular defense against unwanted organisms and with the UVE Series, you’ll spend a lot less time battling microorganisms and pathogens and more time enjoying the creatures you love. The UVE-9 is fully submersible in both fresh and saltwater, and the UV bulb is extremely effective. We like to remind our fishy friends, however, that this filter should be part of regular aquarium maintenance such as water changes and filter cleaning.
UVE-9 Installation Notes
The UVE Series of UV Filter is extremely flexible and allows for placement just about anywhere in your aquarium. The unit needs to be submerged under water to produce maximum effectiveness and life of the product. Unlike typical UV sterilizing systems, the UVE-9 requires no special plumbing and is easy to use and maintain. Simply place the UVE-9 directly in your tank or sump up to the waterline. The built-in pump will draw water in and run it past the 9 Watt UV bulb. The UV light will sterilize and clarify to produce crystal-clear water.
Nothing’s Left to Chance with the Indicator Bulb
The UV bulb runs continuously along with the UVE filter, and all the units in the series include an UV indicator light that lets you know when it’s time to change the UV bulb. The bulb for the unit has a life span of about 8000 hours of use. After this amount of time, the bulb will either die or lose effectiveness but don’t worry, you can order replacement bulbs from TruAqua. Be sure to disconnect power from the unit before proceeding and never look directly into UV light as it can cause permanent eye damage.
