Polishing Micron Filters
Why Polishing Micron Filters Matter?
- Removes Fine Particles: Polishing filters capture even the smallest debris (dust, algae, detritus), leaving your tank looking crystal-clear.
- Supplemental Use: These are not intended as a primary filter; rather, they’re an additional line of defense to help you quickly resolve cloudy or murky conditions.
Key Benefits of the Polishing Micron Filters
- Enhanced Mechanical Filtration
Traps ultra-fine particles that standard filters may miss—perfect for occasional use when water clarity matters most. - User-Friendly Design
Simple to set up and maintain, even for beginners. Just connect, plug in, and enjoy improved clarity. - Efficient Flow Rates
- PM-300: 317 GPH for smaller or moderately sized tanks
- PM-500: 500 GPH for larger aquariums or heavier loads
- Quiet Operation
Enjoy the tranquility of your aquatic world without excess noise, making it easy to run these filters in the background.
Cleaning & Maintenance of the Micron Cartridge
- Monitor Flow Rate: You’ll know the Micron Cartridge is dirty if the water flow decreases significantly.
- Rinse Under Pressure: Remove the cartridge and rinse thoroughly under tap water until most debris is gone.
- Extended Cleaning with Bleach (If Needed):
- If the cartridge still isn’t clean after rinsing, follow the instructions in the product manual to soak it in a bleach solution.
- Important: Follow the bleach-soaking instructions precisely. Improper use of bleach can kill your fish or other livestock.
- Dry Completely: Ensure the cartridge is fully rinsed of bleach and free of chlorine residue before placing it back into your aquarium.
Intended Use: Supplemental Filtration
These Polishing Micron Filters are not intended to replace your primary filtration system. Think of them as a “spot clean” option you can deploy in situations such as:
- Disturbing the Substrate: During gravel or sand vacuuming, which can release trapped detritus into the water column.
- Adding New Rock or Décor: Kick-up from new aquascaping materials can cause temporary cloudiness.
- Overfeeding Incidents: Excess food may cause murky water, so quick filtration can help prevent further water quality issues.
- Routine Maintenance: Polishing the water after regular water changes for an extra level of clarity.
Allow the filter to run until the aquarium water has reached the desired level of clarity. Then, simply remove or turn off this supplemental filter until the next time you need it.
